Federal weather officials are beefing up their storm detection abilities in the Green River basin south of Seattle in hopes of better predicting flood threats, according to an article in the Seattle Times.

The National Weather Service is installing equipment to be able to warn flood threatened people in the Green Valley area up to 24 hours in advance of heavy rains. Worries are that if there is too much rain, the Dam will be forced to release an incredible amount of water, much more than is usually released.
